Peach Cup Rule of Play
Event
A challenge
team event for golfers from Georgia and South Carolina competing for
club honor as a group of golfers from the state. This event is to be
held on the third weekend of September annually. And the event calls
for the teams to win as many matches to clinch the cup for the year.
Tee Times
Tee times for
Saturday should be starting around noon whereas the tee times for Sunday
shall be starting earlier in the morning.
Host
Beginning with
the 2001 Deaf peach Cup, it will be held by GDGA in Georgia. GDGA will
host the event in odd year and SCDGA will host the event in even year.
The Cup
The cup goes
to the team with the most points (at least 4 ½). In the event
the final results end up in a tie (4 – 4), there will be a sudden
death playoff between the best team of each club to continue under the
format of two-men scramble until a club is declared the winner.
Teams
Each club team
consists of 8 players each and all 16 players are to play in 2 matches
over the weekend. Be it whatever how it is formed. Each club will decide
how the team is set up.
Pairings
Pairings will
be determined by blind draw. Each captain will draw a piece of paper
consist the names of players of a team from a cap to be paired up against
the team that was drawn up from another cap for a match. This process
goes on until all 4 matches are set.
Matches
The stroke plays
will be the norm for all matches. Lowest team score wins the match and
the winning team will receive one point (1) for the club. In the event
the scores are tied, each team will receive half point (1/2) for the
clubs.
On Saturday, the format calls for Four Ball in which every player plays
its ball and whoever shoot the lowest score, that score will be used
against the opponent’s lowest score.
On Sunday, the format calls for the Two-men Scramble in which the team
of twosome plays each of their balls and then decides which spot to
use to hit their next shots from and so on until the team hole out.
Scorecards
There shall
be one (1) scorecard for each match. Each scorecard shall contain both
teams’ name and players’ names, i.e. Team Georgia - Miller/Smith….
All golfers in the match shall sign the scorecard.
All signed scorecards shall be given to the captains.
Rules of Play
The rules of
play shall be governed by the USGA rules except for the following modified
rules:
- Winter play shall be
enforced at all tournaments, meaning the ball can be moved anywhere
expect in the hazards and on the greens. Ball shall not be moved
more than six (6) inches of the spot and no nearer the pin.
- Lost ball, out-of-bound,
or unplayable lie may be played with one (1) of the following three
(3) options:
1.You may drop the ball as near as possible at the spot you played
your original ball. If the original shot was a tee shot, you may
retee the new ball.
2.You may drop the ball within two (2) club-lengths of the spot
where
the ball lies in any direction, but not nearer the hole.
3.You may drop the ball on an imaginary line extending from the
hole to the point where the original ball last crossed the margin
of the "hazard" with no limit of how far back you go.
NOTE: Each option carries a one (1) stroke penalty.
- Ball in either water
hazard (yellow stakes) or water lateral hazard (red stakes) may
be played with one (1) of the following four (4) options:
1. You may drop the ball as near as possible at the spot you played
your original ball. If the original shot was a tee shot, you may
retee the new ball.
2. You may drop the ball within two (2) club-lengths of the spot
where the ball lies in any direction, but not nearer the hole.
3. You may drop the ball on an imaginary line extending from the
hole to the point where the original ball last crossed the margin
of the "hazard" with no limit of how far back you go.
4. Play the ball as it lies.
NOTE: Each option carries a one (1) stroke penalty,
except for #4.
- If a player fails to
get the ball across the water twice, he/she shall go around the
water and drop a ball inside the cart path near the water
- Leaves rule will be
effective for ball to be determined in the area of heavy leaves
on the golf course. In the wooded areas, be determined that the
ball is indeed in the pile of leaves. After determined by every
player in the match that a ball is indeed in under the pile of leaves,
a player may drop another ball near the spot but no nearer the hole
in play without a penalty.
- Every player will play
from the same Tees. Tees is to be determined upon the captains of
each club.
